About Us

A community club, not a business.

Summertown Stars AFC exists for one reason — to give every child in North Oxford the chance to play football, regardless of ability or family income.

Our Story

Summertown Stars was founded by parents who believed grassroots football should be about fun, development, and community — not winning at all costs. What started as a single Under-7 team has grown into one of Oxfordshire's largest youth football clubs.

Today we run 64 teams across every age group from Under-6 mixed mini-soccer through to our Men's first XI. We're FA affiliated, hold Charter Standard status, and are governed as a registered charity — meaning every penny goes back into football.

We're proudly community-owned. No private investors, no shareholders — just 180+ volunteers giving their time so that 875 young people can play the game they love every week.

What We Believe

Every Player Plays

No child sits on the bench all match. Our rotation policy ensures every player gets meaningful game time, every week.

Every Parent Helps

This club runs on volunteer power. From coaching to car-parking, line-marking to kit-washing — there's a role for everyone.

Every Volunteer Matters

Our coaches, managers, referees, and committee members are all unpaid. We invest in their development through FA courses and mentoring.

We hold FA Charter Standard status, meaning we meet the Football Association's benchmark for quality in youth football — covering safeguarding, coaching qualifications, and club management.

All committee meetings are open to members. Our annual accounts are published and available on request.
